Last fall, inspired by Corey Tempton’s Portland Daily Photo, I tired to start a photo site of my own.  Well, about a week later, my computer died and it was months until I was back up and running with hardware I was happy with.

Well, today, after much procrastination, I finally posted some photos online that don’t completely suck.  They half-way suck, but I can live with that.

While on my daily excursion to the Ocean Ave dog park, I took a few shot along the way.  Then, I ran them through the HDR in Photoshop.  In the past, I just used an app on my phone to this sort of thing.  This was the first time I “did it for real”.  I’m not completely happy with the effect, but still, I feel they are worth posting.

So, where are the photos you ask?  Go check out my Tumblr.  It’s soooo much easier to post photos on Tumbler then it is on WordPress.  Worpress is time consuming, and I just don’t have the time right now.  Sorry!

Again, I haven’t posted a damn thing to this site.

Instead of whining or making excuses about that crap, here are some points of uninterest about my life recently…

• The kids were sick last week, and got me sick.  Stomach Flu.  I don’t enjoy vomiting, but hey, what can you do.
• I hit level 50 in SW:TOR.  Waiting for the new patch to come out in April before I start a second character.
• I’ve picked up my camera again, after a long absence from photography.  Pictures soon, maybe.
• I am sick of Girl Scout Cookies.  I’ve spent 4 weekends selling cookies on street corners.  It’s for a good cause; we’re taking the girls to DC in June, but… I’m sick of it all.
• I’m very far behind on my TV watching, movie viewing and book reading.  But what’s new there, right?
• I’ve almost completed my multi-year project of building a database for my Star Wars Book/Comic/Magazine collection.  Next step is to publish it online.
• Sadly, I’m too broke to go to ROFLcon III this year.  Very upset about this.

So, here’s the thing…

I’ve been playing with my camera more and more these days, and I’ve come to the conclusion that the thing I like taking pictures of the most, is people.

BUT… I don’t have anyone to take pictures of. My wife refuses, my kids don’t have the patience, and I don’t have any friends who would do it.

So, I thought I would turn to turn to the internet, but… Well, how do I do this without sound like a pervert?

My idea is to place a post on Craigslist stating something like “Wanted, a model to pose for me. I’m an amateur photographer who wants to take pictures of people, and I am looking for willing models to work for me. This is a non paying gig, but I will give you copies of all the photos taken.” -or something like that. See what I mean, sounds like I’m some creep, right?

Maybe if I came up with some other wording? Maybe if I went into a detailed explanation of my situation? But really, if I make it too long, no one is going to read it. (This is the internet after all. No one reads anything more then 6 sentences. Or so that’s my theory. Which said, makes me doubt that anyone is still reading this.)

Anyway, if anyone has any advice, please let me know what it is. I would greatly appreciate it.

My camera is kicking my arse! I broke down and bought this book.  I’m now reading it for the second time.  I feel like a noob. I just want to create photos half as good as Lauren Farmer’s, is that too much to ask?

Last year, I spent way too much time browsing the internet just looking for the lulz. It was fun, but a complete waiste of time. I’ve broken myself of that habit thankfully. (though, I still haven’t accomplished anything yet with all this new time I’m not flittering away.)

Anyway, here is a bunch of stuff I found last spring, (which is eons ago in internet time). Just wanted to share it, so I can justify this stuff clogging up my hard drive. (this is post one of two – I’ll get to the rest of it later.)
